Massage Therapy Massage is an ancient healing technique that relieves pain and provides wellness.
When you bump into something isn’t your first reaction to say OUCH and then you touch it and rub to make it feel better?
That is the healing power of massage. TOUCH! Your body literally aches to be touched and loves to be touched. The skin is your largest organ and it needs stimulation to function properly. The benefits of massage are far reaching, from general relaxation and stress relief to a therapeutic massage for injury and pain.
Here is a list of some of the benefits you can expect from massage: Relaxed muscles, increased blood circulation and lymph flow, improved healing time after injury, reduced inflammation in joints,
increased joint flexibility, and range of motion, releases your body’s healing chemicals for a sense of well-being. Strengthens the immune system, provides nourishment to all cells by bringing more oxygen into the
body for healing. All massages have multiple benefits and provide balance in your body for better health, alignment and a greater sense of well being.
Swedish:
Gives comfort and is done with clothes off covered by a sheet, the therapist uses oil or lotion with or without essential oils. The long, large, flowing strokes release tension and soreness from muscles and it will feel like one continuous sequence in which each stroke moves into the next with ease. This whole body massage is good for general stress relief and relaxation.
Deep Tissue: This stronger and deeper pressure massage is done with clothes off, using oil or lotion and you are covered with a sheet. Perfect massage for athletes, dancers, runners and cyclists
and is of tremendous value to condition the body for action.
When we are unfit or exercise too hard, the demand for oxygen exceeds supply and you build up toxins in the muscles, which cause aching and fatigue and
takes a long time to dispel. Massage helps muscles return to their original capacity far quicker then rest because it improves circulation and helps remove metabolic waste. This localized massage can
include stretching to relieve cramps, soreness, and stiffness.
Acupressure: Involves working with the meridian (energetic) system of the body, usually done in light weight, stretchy, comfortable clothes (partly for reasons of modesty, some of the movements of the receiver’s limbs are in fairly exposed positions) no oils or lotions.
Using specialized hand, finger, thumb and elbow techniques, the therapist works on small areas to unblock stagnant qi (chi) to facilitate the movement
of energy through the meridians. This is the perfect massage for someone who suffers from headaches, pain, feeling out of balance and a great pick- me-up if you feel tired, rundown or are convalescing from illness.
Lymphatic Drainage: Working the waters of the body, this massage technique is done with shorts or boxers on and you are warmly covered with sheet and blanket. No oils or lotions. The lymphatic system is in and around almost everything in the body, it is both surface, just under the skin and deep, in the brain and organs. Have you ever skinned your knee or cut yourself and instead of blood clear liquid come out? That was lymph. A shiver is the lymph system at work. This is a very light touch, specialized massage, deeply relaxing and healing because the therapist is moving toxins thru the lymph pathways to be excreted. You may feel it move like waves throughout the body. A wonderful healing massage if you are having chronic pain, headaches, chemically sensitive, have allergies, swelling in legs, under arms, groin or any part of the body.
Surgeons (esp.cosmetic) often recommend pre and post surgery lymph therapy as swelling, scarring and bruising is reduced and healing time is
dramatically lessened. Done in several sessions, Lymphatic Drainage is done by a therapist who has taken specialized classes.
Craniosacral therapy:
The Craniosacral therapist accesses the wave-like flow of fluid which continuously ebbs and flows in the space surrounding the brain and spinal cord. This subtle, very light pressure helps to promote the body’s ability to heal itself. I can enhance the nervous system and circulatory functioning while alleviating stress, improving musculoskeletal conditions. Emotional releases are especially effective during massage. Fully clothed and comfortable this massage is recommended for any one of any age.
Tips to make your massage more effective: • Please drink water…8
glasses minimum everyday and especially on the day before your massage. (Trust me on this, if you are not hydrated for a deep tissue or lymphatic massage you may feel sick the day after.)
• Don’t wear fragrance to your massage. • Tell your therapist about all of your conditions (write them down ahead of time) • If you are pregnant, menstruating, have high blood pressure, cancer,
diabetes and on insulin, or have any open sores tell your therapist when you make your appointment. • If you have special needs, your therapist will be happy to give you assistance if you make them known.
• Be a little early, so you can relax a few minutes before going into the massage room.
Heart Centered Therapy (HCT) is a loving approach to spiritual emotional healing that entrusts the voice of the heart to guide personal process to wholeness. HCT achieves reintegration and healing through a gentle, respectful process, without reliving the trauma. Personal issues and conflict come to resolution through love, acceptance, and transformation of the whole being.
Masterful dialogue techniques include step-by-step guidelines that identify and transform the emotional component of disease in the body, the related
trauma, as well as the ancestral patterns that have sustained wounding within the immediate family and the family lineage. Inside this gentle and respectful process is a very direct, straightforward approach that
pierces straight to the core of an issue.
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."
A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include
relaxation and feelings of peace, security and well being. Many have reported miraculous results.
Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use.
Classes are held from Reiki 1 thru Reiki Master Teacher
